Monday Fashion Alert

Katie debuts a new look on X Factor: Copyright ITV

Katie is still in X Factor: It seems image really is everything and let's be honest, she had nothing left to lose by changing her style yet again. A short boyish crop and an array of baby doll dresses certainly says: "I'm sweet, innocent and defenceless- please don't vote me out." Call me cynical, but it definitely worked this weekend.

Gillian fainting on I'm a Celeb: I don't know about you but I couldn't stop laughing, which under the circumstances means I'm either a very mean person OR Gillian has irked me and millions of others beyond belief. I'll go with the latter, if only because she clearly has a thing for medic Bob and wears indecently small shorts. Ew.

Get Kate's ring on QVC Less than a week since the Royal engagement was announced and QVC have already made a replica of Kate's engagement ring. Fast work, I'm sure you'll agree! "The Princess Simulated Sapphire Ring" by Kenneth Jay Lane is available for a mere $39.54. Shame Wills didn't think ahead, he could've saved himself a fortune!

Olivia Palermo to get own TV show: Yes, she with the incredible glossy hair has managed to land herself a new gig after The City was axed. “I’m currently working on a TV project, my own show," she announced via Elle.com Ooo secretive much?!

The X Factor: Bootcamp Review

Has Rebecca Ferguson got The X Factor?! Copyright ITV

Wow Bootcamp was intense wasn't it?! I'm loving The X Factor at the moment with all the drama and the return of Brian Friedman to our screens!

Despite looking beyond weird in a ill-fitting combat jumpsuit with a massive hood, he was fun to watch, much like Louis who was on fine form in tight jeans, complete with retro quiff for all of Bootcamp.

Nah, I can't really be mean about Louis- I do feel for him getting the Over 28's this year. Give the poor guy a break- he always gets the Jedward's and never the Leona's!

The Cheryl and Dannii groups were a joke as well, both have had them before- why not shake it up and give Chezza the groups and Dannii the girls?

Anyway, enough about the judges let's move onto my stand out contestants who have made it through to the final 32.

Girls
Rebecca Ferguson- Aww I love Rebecca, this gal is bringing glamour back to The X Factor with her false eyelashes and elegant dresses. An amazing voice and personality to go with it- she's one of my favourites in this show.

Katie Waissel- I'm not sure about Katie, I think she may be a grower. She looks like she's trying too hard at times and her sense of style is a bit all over the place. There's quirky love and then there's looking like you've escaped from the funny farm. My money is on her making it through to the live shows though...

Cher Lloyd- Not her best performance on the night in my eyes but her swagga style continues to win me over. Military jackets, cargo pants, wedge boots and beehived hair make her stand out from the crowd- a shoo in for the live shows.

Gamu Nhengu- My absolute favourite. Her rendition of Make You Feel My Love was stunning- it reduced poor Louis to tears! She's so cute with her style choices and I love her signature flower in the hair. If she doesn't make it through, I will stage a protest!

Check out Gamu's official Bootcamp audition below

Groups
Husstle- I totally feel like I've gone back in time to the Hear'say Popstars days when I look at these girls, but there's also something a bit current about them too- say a British version of the Pussycat Dolls? They're one of the best groups in the comp though, so they get a big thumbs up.

Princes & Rogues- Erm, I dunno what to say really. Geek chic has been done boys, but who knows they may just surprise me.

Over 28's
Storm Lee- What a Legend is all I can say- his Bootcamp audition was amazing. I remember thinking he was average in the auditions, but liked him as a person; how wrong I was. He's unique, quirky and I'm loving the trilby collection he keeps wheeling out at each stage of the comp. Brilliant.

Check out Storm's official Bootcamp audition below

Mary Byrne- I like this lady a lot, she's got a cracking voice and a bubbly personality to match. Fashion wise? Nope, she aint going to set the world alight, but I think she has a chance of making it to the live shows.

Stephen Hunter- I just want to give this man a hug, he's a little sweetie but can you see him winning this comp? Nope... me neither.

Boys
Paije Richardson- What a travesty that this fine young fellow nearly didn't make it past the audition stage! His amazing hat complete with feather should be reason enough to put him through.

Aiden Grimshaw- He makes very strange faces when he sings, but undoubtedly the guy has stage presence. I'm not keen on his geeky glasses though, someone should have informed him that they only look good on Topman models. And even then...

So what do you think? Do let me know your thoughts and if you want more gossip check out X Factor's official page here

X Factor Watch: The weird and wonderful!

Double Denim: Does Aiden Grimshaw have the X Factor? Copyright ITV

This week's X Factor was the most entertaining for many reasons; Nicole from Pussycat Dolls made an appearance, a crazy lady with white blonde Gandalf hair took to the stage...oh and Chezza finally collapsed.

Then there was Savannah the bell ringer, Simon & Louis with their simultaneous giggle fits, Nicole's mucho posh outfits and the guy with who sang Gold Digger in more denim than should be allowed.

It was fab on many levels, although I did feel cheated after they built up Cheryl's malaria scare and dedicated all but 9 seconds to it!

Anyway, by far the most surreal moment was a stick insect with massive eyelashes taking to the stage towards the end of the show.

Chloe Victoria: Love or Loathe?

Now, I felt sorry for her, but others wern't so kind. Sure she overdid the tan, the make-up, the clothes, the hair (I could go on) but she could actually sing.

The attitude didn't help her, but she got through, so here's hoping she improves for bootcamp. By improve, I mean ditch all the fakery and let the real Chloe out.

My fave contestant had to be scouse Rebecca, who channelled Audrey Hepburn with her audition style. Looking stunning in a simple LBD, pearl earrings and necklace- she stole the show.

Bring on Bootcamp!!!!

X Factor Fashion: Cher Rules!

Cher Lloyd on X Factor- Copyright ITV

After last week's disappointing show (although I did love Katy Perry in all her sparkly wonder) X Factor was back on fine form this week.

Forget the ego-tastic judges though; this week was all about the contestants and their fantastic stage outfits.

I use the term fantastic loosely though, as we did have an Elton John impersonator early on, which at best was an awful tribute and at worse, well, let’s not go there.

No, the real star of the show this week was 16-year-old Cheryl wannabe Cher. Her rendition of Soulja Boy's Turn My Swag On was mesmerising and refreshingly different to anything that's ever been done on X Factor before.

I loved her look as well; a cross between early Cheryl Tweedy (slightly chavvy ripped jeans and messy hair) and new Cheryl- sleek in a fitted military jacket and platforms.

After Cher we were treated to Justin Bieber masquerading as 16-year-old Liam Payne, who was booted off the show two years ago for not being ready for stardom.

His goosebump-inducing rendition of Michael Buble's Cry Me a River earned a standing ovation from the Cowell and an uncertain Natalie Imbruglia.

Ahh, Ms Imbruglia. Well that was a bit of a damp squib wasn't it? After committing the ultimate faux par and arriving in the same pink dress two days running, her contribution was pretty much zilch for the whole show.

So far its been hit and miss with the guest judges, so with Pixie Lott and Nicole Scherzinger still to come, let’s hope they make a better impression than Geri and now Natalie have done.

To end the show on a high, or low whichever way you choose to look at it were two real life Vicky Pollard's.

After insulting Louis (hilarious), slamming for Natalie by not knowing who she was (mean, but funny) they then told the audience to shut up (big mistake... 3000 people booing you, no-one could've recovered from that).

Anyway, it ended up with the chavtastic twosome (complete with horrible furry boots, I might add) having a bit of a punch up and being pulled apart by Simon's military team. Hehe.

Bring on next week I say!

X Factor Fashion: Week One

Ooo don't they look good?! Copyright ITV

After all the craziness surrounding Saturday’s auditions, I thought it was about time we got back to the most important thing about the show- the fashion!

Of course Cheryl dazzled in a strapless leopard print mini dress, although she didn’t really give me the same buzz as usual; she looked small and kind of out of her depth sat between Simon and motor mouth Geri.

Speaking of Geri- that woman could talk for England! No wonder the audience reportedly booed her in auditions!

I’ve got to give the producers their dues- editing Geri in such a way that even the judges looked bored with her was hilarious. Her circa 2000 haircut, shiny face and simple wardrobe simply looked misplaced next to Chezza’s full on glamour, so for me- a total miss.

As for Konnie Huq, Holly’s replacement, well- I think the criticism she’s come in for has been pretty unfair; she’s new, she has her own way of doing things- so give her a bloomin’ chance!

When it comes to her style credentials however, I’m more dubious. Her first outing in a grey jumper and floral shorts was cute, but a white bra underneath gave away her inexperience. Maybe next week will be better...

And speaking of next week- OMG did you see that woman punching her mate on stage?! Other than that Cheryl’s seen experimenting with high street jewellery and the lovely Pixie Lott makes her debut.

Fashion Highlights of the past week

Hello, I’m back! Yes, even Fashion bloggers need a holiday from time to time, so to ease both myself and you back into the swing of things, here’s my fashion highlights from the past week...

Coleen for Littlewoods: The first promo shots of Coleen were released this week, showing her in her new role as a style advisor. I’ve long been a fan of Coleen, but in my view she doesn’t appear to have the pull she once did. Maybe it’s because by showbiz standards she’s been out of the limelight too long, but we’ll see – perhaps she’ll be a big hit. Loving the promo shots at least; damn that girl can dress!

Lady Gaga for Twinings: According to everyone’s favourite celeb blogger, Perez Hilton, Lady Gaga may soon be bringing out her own tea. Locked in a battle with a few major tea companies, Twinings is reportedly the front runner to secure Gaga as a representative. As a major tea drinker myself, I’m pretty darn excited about some designer Gaga tea, how about you?!

Toy Story 3: Great film, hilariously funny and apparently one which bores kids. As I sat choking on my popcorn with laughter this Friday, the ten year old next to me was asking his dad ‘is it over yet!?’ Over?! God, I was hoping it was never going to end- the best in the trilogy by a mile, with plenty of adult humour and amazing animation. Why is it appearing in a fashion blog you ask? One word- Ken; that guy will have you splitting your sides with his fashion antics, and with a wardrobe like his, you can see why Barbie fell for him. Check out Disney's official trailer here...

The Big Bang Theory: A great episode this week, which explained how Leonard became roomies with everyone’s favourite nut, Sheldon. I have to give this a mention, purely for Leonard’s big curly wig and chino pants; hilarious! And if you thought Raj and Wolowitz dressed badly now, this was clearly nothing compared to when they all first met. Wolowitz with an afro and goatee and Raj clearly liked dressing in colourful suits complete with chunky gold jewellery.

Dannii Minogue, Style Queen: Flavour of the moment, Dannii Minogue is soon to appear in her very own fly on the wall reality show on ITV2. The adverts have already started to generate a bit of buzz, as it focuses on the X Factor judge launching her fashion line and preparing for motherhood. More on this when I actually watch it...

Cheryl Tweedy takes week off (about time!)

Poor Cheryl. Seriously, Poor Cheryl. Barely has X Factor filming begun than the lovely Northern lass has had to pull out due to severe exhaustion.

Nobody is hotter than Saint Chezza right now, especially after dumping husband Ashley- she's come out stronger than ever in terms of marketability.

A new Loreal hairspray and lipstick campaign, a brand new season of X Factor about to commence and endless rumours about her new romance interests have kept Cheryl at the centre of media and public interest.

But, and here comes the but- she hasn't had any time off in three years practically. Ever since X Factor propelled her to superstardom; she's taken on everything that's come her way and now she's paying the price.

We can't all be fashion icons day in day out, it's exhausting- trust me, I know!- and it's about time she said enough is enough and put her feet up for a bit!

Since the whole Ashely saga she's gone into work overload and for each occasion she's debuted a new 'look' to accompany it. She's been a hip hop princess, a Barbie replica and a sleek and stylish goddess.

I'm looking forward to seeing her come back bigger and better for the live shows; refreshed and raring to take on Simon and co. Go Cheryl!
