Ah Miley. Once so young, sweet and innocent now quite famous for twerking, showing her tongue more than is strictly necessary and well for being naked in her new video.
The opening 30 seconds of ‘Wrecking Ball’ is a shot focusing purely on her face; skin flawless, lips stained a deep red and eyelashes coated with a hint of mascara. In other words, she doesn’t look like the car crash we have been lead to believe in the papers. In actual fact, she looks, dare I say it, ‘sweet’.
This doesn’t really last with the video taking a different turn, or as some of the press are describing it, descending into ‘soft porn’ territory pretty quickly. She rides a wrecking ball naked, licks a hammer somewhat suggestively and spends the rest of her time gyrating against something.
However shocking though, the thing is I like the new Miley. She’s 20, she is going to experiment, she is going to flash the flesh and she is going to make people sit up and take notice of her no matter what.
She is no longer the preteen Disney queen (see what I did there with the rhyming?!) she’s her own woman and clearly has a smart business head on her- most viewed clip in 24 hours ever? She’s not stupid; she knows stripping off equal’s tonnes of hits and more than likely another UK number 1.
I think her new style is edgy, cool and above all something she has had a say in. You get the opinion she was manufactured for most of her life and wasn’t able to get tattoos, piercings, wear a crop top or flesh coloured latex, but now, well the world is her oyster.
The naked video is not to my taste and I’m sure plenty of people will criticise her for it when she is supposedly a ‘role model’ still, but hey, she’s got people talking and she has certainly convinced me of one thing…. white nail varnish is hot!

My New Fave Film: Tangled!

I finally watched Tangled this weekend, after weeks of begging my boyf to accompany me to one of the most hilarious Disney films ever to be created.
Seriously... it was THAT good. From the outset, Rapunzel was clearly not your average heroine; locked in a tower with hair that would surely, in real life, mean you couldn't walk anywhere and a clear talent for art.
So far, so good. The Disney formula does remain the same though. Evil witch- check, dashing male lead- check and a happy ending- check.
No, the thing which really made me love Tangled was the humour. Finally Disney have cottoned on to the very present adult audience and have catered for that.
Little in-jokes here and there, original characters and the funniest horse that has ever been immortalised in animation.
Maximus and Pascal were very much the heart and soul of the film, along with the good vs evil theme and love story that is ever present in Disney films, be it old or new.
I was uber jealous of Rapunzel's hair- and her skill with a frying pan, come to that, and yes I'll admit I'm a sucker for the big romance, but the real draw of the film was the humour.
Kids will have come away laughing and wanting new cuddly toys, and me, well I was ready to queue up and see it again, and maybe just maybe, take a trip to the Disney Store after!

Fashion Highlights of the past week
Hello, I’m back! Yes, even Fashion bloggers need a holiday from time to time, so to ease both myself and you back into the swing of things, here’s my fashion highlights from the past week...
Coleen for Littlewoods: The first promo shots of Coleen were released this week, showing her in her new role as a style advisor. I’ve long been a fan of Coleen, but in my view she doesn’t appear to have the pull she once did. Maybe it’s because by showbiz standards she’s been out of the limelight too long, but we’ll see – perhaps she’ll be a big hit. Loving the promo shots at least; damn that girl can dress!

Lady Gaga for Twinings: According to everyone’s favourite celeb blogger, Perez Hilton, Lady Gaga may soon be bringing out her own tea. Locked in a battle with a few major tea companies, Twinings is reportedly the front runner to secure Gaga as a representative. As a major tea drinker myself, I’m pretty darn excited about some designer Gaga tea, how about you?!
Toy Story 3: Great film, hilariously funny and apparently one which bores kids. As I sat choking on my popcorn with laughter this Friday, the ten year old next to me was asking his dad ‘is it over yet!?’ Over?! God, I was hoping it was never going to end- the best in the trilogy by a mile, with plenty of adult humour and amazing animation. Why is it appearing in a fashion blog you ask? One word- Ken; that guy will have you splitting your sides with his fashion antics, and with a wardrobe like his, you can see why Barbie fell for him. Check out Disney's official trailer here...
The Big Bang Theory: A great episode this week, which explained how Leonard became roomies with everyone’s favourite nut, Sheldon. I have to give this a mention, purely for Leonard’s big curly wig and chino pants; hilarious! And if you thought Raj and Wolowitz dressed badly now, this was clearly nothing compared to when they all first met. Wolowitz with an afro and goatee and Raj clearly liked dressing in colourful suits complete with chunky gold jewellery.
Dannii Minogue, Style Queen: Flavour of the moment, Dannii Minogue is soon to appear in her very own fly on the wall reality show on ITV2. The adverts have already started to generate a bit of buzz, as it focuses on the X Factor judge launching her fashion line and preparing for motherhood. More on this when I actually watch it...
