Guilty Pleasure: The Tube

The Tube under the spotlight!

I have a secret. The past six weeks I have been watching avidly, The Tube. No I don't mean I have been trainspotting in secret, I mean I have been watching the BBC documentary of the same name.

I ended up watching it by accident one evening and suddenly my blog about the tube staff being filmed one morning suddenly made sense. I have bascially spent the last six weeks sitting patiently waiting to be spotted.

Alas, it was not to be; me nor the very smiley train man featured in the end and that was a crying shame, because he really was the nicest guy wishing you a nice day on the platform no matter what.

Anyway, it was a very interesting programme about all aspects of The Tube, which have made me every so slightly more patient when delays occur, something which I suspect the Mayor and co. wanted to achieve by agreeing to be filmed in the first place.

By the end of last week I'll admit the show was running out of steam for me (get it?!) but the first few episodes were compelling. There are some weird and wonderful people out there in tube land, and by screening this documentary, we got to meet some of them. Brilliant.

The Apprentice: The girls really do have it!

The Apprentice: Series 7

Is it me, or do the girls really seem to have the edge in the early stages every year on The Apprentice?!

Last night’s team, Venture managed to outwit the boys team, Logic and take the lead 1-0, with a new episode due to air again tonight.

To be fair it wasn’t hard to beat the boys- they did not have a clue- but then again the girls team wasn’t exactly full of bright sparks.

Every year they make the same mistake and let the ego clash get in the way of a result. Ignoring the person put in charge of costings to get some self glory really isn’t the way to go about things.

Anyway, last night’s fruit and veg task was pretty good, although for me nothing can top last season’s debut, which saw the candidates working through the night to make sausages.

Tonight they’re creating an App, which I think will be really interesting and different to what we have seen before.

With Team Logic one member down, will they be able to redeem themselves? More importantly will any one of the girls be able to show me an ounce of fashion common sense?!

After last night, I'm seriously doubt it!

The Apprentice Fashion: Week Three

The Apprentice: Week Three Copyright BBC

I may be on my own here, but I’m finding this series of The Apprentice a tad dull. There are certainly characters in this year’s show- Melissa, Paloma etc- but the tasks all feel eerily similar.

That said, I won’t stop watching, because I am an addict- simple as. Car crash TV at its best both on the tasks and in some cases, with the girls and their wardrobe choices.

Here’s my verdict on the remaining girlies...

Paloma: Slick, stylish and the villain of the piece now, after she stabbed poor old Shibby in the back. Paloma is dominant and groomed to perfection; although I think her shirt and trouser combo is starting to get a wee bit boring each week now.

Liz: She reminds me of someone I can’t yet place, but I will get there with it! She seems naturally stunning, even if she must get up at like 2am to slap on that make-up. I love her smart business attire though; simple shift dresses and tailored pieces make her my early fave.

Melissa: One reporter had it bang on- a female Gok Wan. Melissa is utterly terrifying with her manic quiff and scary specs; all rounded off with a rather manish wardrobe and walk. Baffling, but her one shoulder dress she wore for her treat last night was actually pretty impressive.

Sandeesh: Very scary eyes and not much else to report about this eerily quiet contestant. Maybe she will make an impression on me next week.

Stella: I love this lady. The way she lead the boys last week was pure genius and despite the power dressing, complete with platinum locks and bright red lips she is one to watch without a doubt.

Laura: Very lucky to not get fired last week, and as one of the younger contestants I had hoped she would up the ante in the fashion stakes. Instead I get boring grey trouser suits and unimaginative hair. Snore.

Joanna: I liked her in the first episode, but completely went off her last week. This week she seemed to disappear into the background altogether, which is a shame because I quite like her cute shift dresses teamed with fierce heels. As soon as she finds a balance between mouthy and silent, she could well go far.

Image courtsey of Belstaff press office

I told you Sherlock was stylish! You know that oh-so sexy woollen coat he sported throughout the hit BBC series? Well, it's now available to buy.

The 'Millford' coat made by Belstaff has just dropped in their stores nationwide, so get your man down there quick!

All you need is for him to be willing, for him to think Sherlock is actually cool and oh, a spare £1350 to spend.

Yes, dear readers Sherlock's style comes at a price, but to be fair it is made of pure wool, has some very nice Irish tweed detail- oh and it's waterproof too.

The coat in question did a very nice job of bringing the iconic figure into the 21st Century, whilst still retaining something quite unique and classic about the character.

Heck, if the Millford makes my boyfriend look as brooding and as sexy as Sherlock, then I'll take two please...See you in the queue!
