Finally, an episode which made me happy to be a fan again! Not that I don’t love Glee with every fibre of my being, but you can’t deny this season has been a bit hit and miss so far.
Thankfully it’s right back on top thanks to last night’s amazing Superbowl episode. Highlights included:
Thriller/Head will Roll mash up: I may have cheated and watched this when it first aired in the States, but it was no less impressive seeing it last night. Great atmosphere, fantastic costumes, amazing vocals from Santana (she really can sing!) and dance moves that are sure to go down in Glee’s history as some of the best. Loved, loved, loved this song and to me, it’s the Don’t Stop Believing of this series.
Sue’s Rage: Give this woman every award going; Jane Lynch is a legend. Her portrayal of Sue going off the rails and trashing everywhere was hilarious, as was her new attempt to reach a Cheerio high by shooting Brittany out of a cannon. Her shameless emotional blackmail attempts to get the plucky cheerleader to indeed put herself in mortal peril were so funny to watch, but the clincher this week for me was Sue's response to how she was coping with her downfall- 'I've been drinking a lot of bleach' Lol.
Finn and Quinn Shocker: Again, I may have peaked at spoilers which hinted at this romance, but it was still quite a shock to see these two puckering up again. Finn’s reaction was probably the best… utter confusion mixed with pure lust. This is going to rumble for a few weeks me thinks.
Brittany: She deserves a mention all on her own for just being Brittany. Some stellar quotes this week from my favourite character- 'I don't want to die' followed by 'sucks to be you' were particular favourites. As for Sue's blackmail attempts with a cannon picture saying it missed Brittany- Heather's reaction was suburb. I'm so glad the three lead Cheerios ditched Sue for Glee in the end, it was one bit of slush I appreciated.
Karofsky reforming to type: I like how they have developed this character and putting the jocks with the Glee club was a great idea. Thankfully, Glee went against what it has become known for (slushy goodness) and had Karofsky turn his back on Finn and Glee right at the end, despite having a great time performing with them all.
Puck and Rachel Duet: There’s a real fan base out there for this couple and I’m a big fan after seeing how wasted Rachel and Finn were as pairing. As he gets closer to ex Quinn, surely a Puckberry reunion can’t be far off the mark?
