The Apprentice: What Rubbish!

The Apprentice: Copyright BBC

Oooo I got angry last night by The Apprentice and unfortunately wasn’t able to vent, as my Twitter refused to work!

Zoe should have been fired, point blank. She’s the worst kind of bully in my view and made so many mistakes, clearly she was the obvious choice to be on the receiving end of the finger of doom.

Unfortunately Edna hung herself instead by talking qualifications at Lord Sugar and was promptly fired for waffling, leaving Zoe to slip away.

What got me so annoyed in this episode was Zoe’s treatment of Susan. She talked down to her, shouted at her and refused her credit when it was more than due.

Nick’s right, Susan does need to stick up more for herself, but that will come with time. Zoe should know better and is picking on Susan because she is the youngest, and therefore considered the weakest.

I really hope she is exposed further in the coming weeks and Lord Sugar realises what she is really like.

Anyway, rant over- onto Edna showing up on ‘You’re Fired’ wearing elbow length leather gloves and a rather fetching new hairstyle.

If ever she had a bit of a style reputation as a dominatrix, this outfit only enforced it further. I actually quite liked Edna in the interview, but on the show she came across as a wee bit arrogant and pushy.

That’s a lot like the candidates in this series- they all make complete idiots of themselves on the tasks, but when they’re grilled on You’re Fired they come across as quite likable and clearly embarrassed about how they have appeared.

Who is my current fave to win? Well it has to be Tom. His elation at finally winning a task was adorable!

Jim has done himself no favours in recent weeks, Helen is plain scary, Natasha is too David Brent like (that dancing she did was hilarious) Susan just isn’t ready, Zoe is too aggressive, Leon hasn’t done anything to stand out, Melody whinges too much and Glen looks half asleep on every task.

Till next week and a task I’ll be watching very closely… having created magazines for my degree, I’m keen to see how Britain ’s brightest business brains get on!

Mary Portas: I Heart You!

Mary Portas- Secret Shopper: Copyright Channel 4

There’s something very compelling about Mary Portas. Whether it’s her severe hair colour and cut or wonderfully bonkers wardrobe, she’s a very watchable person.

I admire her crusades (last night it was better customer service) but when she’s on screen, I have to admit, all I’m thinking about is her blingy accessories or what colour her eyeshadow is.

See, now here’s where it becomes quite shallow- yes, she’s a positive role model, but honestly most women don’t watch for her retail skills, they watch for her ever changing fashion.

I, as I’m sure do many others, love her signature hair cut combined with tailored and trendy clothes, which make the most of her long frame.

It’s no coincidence that websites and magazines are bombarded with news on what Mary’s worn the day after she’s appeared on the box.

Her accessories are particularly praised- again I love the knuckleduster ring and statement necklaces she sports; she’s become a slightly unlikely style icon.

If you can’t get enough of Mary either, the good news is she’s on for the next few weeks stepping up her campaign for improved customer service.

Next week looks hilarious, but while that’s meant to be the focus, I can already see my mind wondering to where she’s got her boots from...
