With fashion weeks going on all over the place and the Oscars taking up most of the column inches over the past month, the news that John Galliano had been suspended from his job at Dior kind of passed me by.
Don't get me wrong, I took notice that the fash legend had been accused of making anti-Semitic remarks and was then subsequently questioned by police, but well... I didn't think it was that serious.
How wrong I was! Christian Dior sensationally axed the Brit designer today, after The Sun published video footage showing Galliano making some, er, rather damning comments.
Galliano has always been quirky and controversial, but when a scandal like this surrounds you, there is no getting away.
Natalie Portman, the face of Miss Dior Cherie has also distanced herself from the designer, refusing to associate herself with him after the remarks were made public.
The Daily Mail quoted her as saying in a statement: "I am deeply shocked and disgusted by the video of John Galliano's comments that surfaced today.
"In light of this video, and as an individual who is proud to be Jewish, I will not be associated with Mr Galliano in any way.
"I hope at the very least, these terrible comments remind us to reflect and act upon combating these still-existing prejudices that are the opposite of all that is beautiful." Ouch.
Despite everything the show must go on, and the house will still present their AW11 collection in Paris later this week.
Soooo, all that's left to ask is who's the fave to land the top job at Dior, and can Galliano recover from this?
Let me know what you think...
