I've kept quiet about my new reality show addiction for the past few weeks, but now I feel like it's time to share all- I love Great British Hairdresser!
It's compulsive viewing each week- not quite on par with Gypsy Weddings- but still, seeing James Brown in action is fab. He's so scathing, he actually makes Simon Cowell look nice!
The wannabes are suitably a mix of the over confident, the up and coming, the modest and the plain annoying, which makes for great TV.
Last night's challenge involved styling old ladies hair to reflect either the Rock, Punk or New Romantic era and boy, did it prove to be difficult one for our plucky hairdressers.
Mainly because they didn't have a clue about the references they were supposed to be sampling; too busy slugging the vino and talking to the camera the night before, me thinks!
They had a warm up the day before and still none of them researched the decades they were supposed to be re-creating! I didn't blame James for exploding at the end that no-one wanted it enough or that they were being lazy.
One thing that does grate on me though is Abbey Clancy's voice, which goes right through me- not all the time, just every now and again! She seems an odd choice to present this, but maybe she'll grow on me in the coming weeks.
Actually to be fair, she was pretty funny last week describing Aileen's attempts... "Maybe she's having a bad day, or maybe she's just s**t". Lol
